The BMW XM steers the German firm in a radical new direction: it's the first M efficiency automobile to be electrified and the first unique M model since the M1 supercar. The £144,980 and 644bhp SUV will celebrate the BMW M division's 50th anniversary with a plug-in hybrid V8 powerplant and daring aesthetics.
The new BMW XM will go head-to-head with the Bentley Bentayga, Aston Martin DBX, Lamborghini Urus, and Porsche Cayenne in the fast SUV segment. BMW believes that its 644bhp - split between a turbocharged V8 engine and an electric motor - would entice buyers looking for a powerful SUV without the high running costs. A refund is available for individuals who are dissatisfied.  A 'Label Crimson' model with 748bhp will be available the following year.

As more traditional M division vehicles, the BMW M3 Touring residence, M4 CSL, and new BMW M2 were debuted this year. They are likely to be the final of the only M vehicles powered by a combustion engine, as the XM takes the model on a new electrified path.
Design
The XM's appearance is identical to last year's concept, with a massive pair of nostrils that elevate BMW's distinctive kidney grilles to the exterior's most noticeable feature. The nostril is punctuated by dual headlamps, and its sides feature an angular wheel arch design. Normal alloy wheels will be 21 inches in diameter, although 22-inch and even 23-inch variants may be available.
